The Importance of Recovery
When exercise is a staple in our routines, regardless of the workout of choice, recovery is equally as important at the workout itself. A tired, stiff or sore body should not be ignored and there are a multitude of processes I swear by to keep my muscles joints and tendons feeling great between and during my workouts.
One part of my routine, usually Saturday’s after those high energy spin classes is taking a post-class bath with epsom salts, along with specific essential oils. I’ve been doing this for years and can speak with experience on how much better my body feels as a result.
Epsom salts are made up of magnesium sulfate crystals and have been used by athletes for centuries to aid in muscle recovery after working out. Magnesium helps to relax the muscles which can reduce inflammation and ease soreness while sulfates help flush toxins from the body and promote better circulation in the muscles.
Taking baths with Epsom salts can also help replenish electrolytes in order to prevent dehydration after strenuous activities like running or cycling. Plus, it will leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed!
Essential oils are plant-based extracts that are known for their effects on both the mind and body - something we all need after a hard workout!
Deep Blue oil contains Wintergreen, Camphor, Peppermint, Ylang Ylang, Helichrysum, Blue Tansy, Blue Chamomile, and Osmanthus which all work together to reduce inflammation in the muscles as well as ease tension from overexertion or injury. Marjoram oil helps to relieve muscular pain while Frankincense oil aids in supporting cellular health that may by required due to physical activity. By using all of these essential oils together you’ll be able to get maximum benefit from your recovery process without having to worry about any adverse side effects!
As many of you know, my wife Tracy has been working with essential oils for many, many years and because of the impact she has seen these oils have on so many others, we are both keen to share our experiences.
Recovery is an integral part of staying healthy when engaging in physical activity such as running or cycling.
Taking a bath with epsom salts combined with certain essential oils can provide many beneficial effects such as relieving muscle pain and tension as well as restoring electrolyte balance in the body which can help prevent dehydration.
If you’re looking for an easy yet effective way to recover after your next workout, then add some Epsom salts plus deep blue, marjoram and frankincense oils into your bath - you won't regret it!
