Resistance band training

As an avid sports documentary watcher, Tracy and I noticed that many pro athletes were using resistance bands in their training routines. We wanted to know why, so we decided to investigate the benefits of resistance band workouts. After my first session using the bands about year ago, I could feel the effects immediately; it was clear that these bands had a lot to offer when it comes to my fitness. Very quickly, I was able to get into and enjoy a consistent strength training routine, when in the past, I had resisted it.

Here are some of the reasons why every day fitness enthusiasts should put resistance band work into their routines.

Benefits of Resistance Band Workouts

The great thing about resistance bands is that they provide unique benefits that cannot be replicated with other types of strength training equipment. For example, they allow you to work multiple muscle groups at once while focusing on stability and form. This makes them great for injury prevention as well as muscle lengthening and overall health of the muscles, joints and tendons. The bands also come in various weights and levels of resistance, which allows you to adjust your routine depending on your current fitness level or the type of workout you are doing. Finally, they are light-weight and portable so you can easily take them with you wherever you go.

Exercises You Can Do With Resistance Bands

There is a long list of exercises you can do with resistance bands including bicep curls, triceps extensions, lateral shoulder raises, chest presses, hip bridges, squats, deadlifts and more. All these exercises will help strengthen your muscles by providing tension during the entire range of motion without putting too much stress on your body. This makes them great for people who are recovering from an injury or just starting out with strength training because it allows them to build strength without overworking themselves too quickly.  And they will also challenge and strengthen the most seasoned athlete.

Long Term Benefits as We Age

As will all strength workouts, working with the bands will support your bones and joints which can help prevent falls or injuries due to weak muscles or unstable joints over time. So even if you’re not actively trying to get stronger right now, adding some regular band work into your fitness routine will pay off in the long run!

Resistance bands can offer everyday fitness enthusiasts a variety of benefits from injury prevention to muscle lengthening and overall health improvements—all while being cost effective and simple enough for anyone to use regardless of their current fitness level! Whether you’re an athlete looking for a new way to mix up your routine or someone just starting out with strength training who wants a safe way to build strength without overworking yourself too quickly—resistance band workouts should definitely be part of your regular exercise routine.

Although I’m consistent with mixing up my strength workouts, including kettle bells, weights, and body weight exercises, working with the bands has become my favourite!

I’ve included some of my favourite workouts below. Enjoy!
