Form Over Speed - A Resistance Band Workout with Positive Edge
Over the past few months, it has become glaringly obvious to me that many of the strength workouts online are too fast paced. There is often insufficient rest between sets along with a focus on getting sweaty, or trying to fit too much into the workout by combining strength and cardio instead of doing it right.
We may THINK we are getting a two for one (cardio and strength) workout, maybe even getting in more in less time, but both are being compromised.
Trying to maintain a quick tempo, and not resting enough between sets results in poor form and a much less effective workout. The chance of injury also skyrockets when we are not doing things correctly. You all know that I am a staunch proponent of doing things right, in everything that I do.
Regardless of the type of strength workout you prefer, the focus should be on controlled slow movements with great form. Resistance through the entire movement. This may mean doing less reps but if the reps are done properly, it's a good thing! I periodically send workouts out to people I coach individually, and I was not completely happy with what I was sending them, so…...
I've put together a quick 30 minute resistance band workout that I would love for you to try. This one is full body but there is also a lower body focused one available as well. It's my first shot at a strength workout on camera but there will be more, and they will get better and better! Promise.
You may wonder why there is no music, and that is simply because I want the focus to really be on doing the movement correctly and allowing yourself to be in the moment with each movement.
Check out the full body resistance band workout below and, if you like it, do the lower body as well. There will be more to come, along with a few other ideas up my sleeve how I can add more value to your experience!
